But when an insurance company or a probate judge or a Bank needs to know a car's value, it becomes serious business

I am an independent appraiser.

I enter the antique automobile appraisal business because the quality of information and expertise being provided for classic and custom car owners had no consistency. There are many good appraisers  in the field there are even more who do just the bare minimum and are only in the business for a quick buck . I have been contacted by insurance companies and private owners because when they really needed the appraisal because they suffered a loss . The report is not worth the paper it is write on. 
We  have been in the mechanical field for about 29 years. Our experience in the appraisal industry has a very wide range from Classic and Custom Cars and Special Interest Vehicles as well as Boats, Motor Homes, Travel and Camping Trailers, Motor Cycles, ATV, Ect. We have also been certified with the court of Ontario as experts in the appraisal field. We are also register with the Ontario government to provide UVIP Appraisals

Our Mission statement is to provide each and every one of our customers with and accurate evaluation of there vehicle. An appraisal is a snapshot of a car at a particular time. I strive to make these snapshots as complete and accurate as possible. With that in mind, I approach each appraisal as a three-step process  research, evaluation and preparation of the final report.

 
I've created this web page to provide information you can use when you need to have a value appraisal done on your car or truck RV, Motorcycle Boat ect. There are questions you should ask an appraiser to determine if he or she has the knowledge and desire to properly evaluate your car. I've followed that with a description of the procedures I follow in doing an appraisal.  

It may be nice and make us feel good to get a report on your car with a high value . Its not a nice experience  when have a claim and your insurance company, rejects your claim and challenges the appraised value which they had initially accepted. What is even worse If the person you chose to do your work can not or will not stand behind there work. Every one is looking for  a deal the coupe of dollars you may have saved mean nothing at this point. 

 
As a fellow car collector I share your fascination of all cars . Many  cars from the past had style and power, were identifiable at a glance.
